Project CARS is returning to EGX this year at Birmingham’s NEC from September 24-27. This will be no normal Expo booth though since we’re bringing a stage and Twitch broadcast setup with our friends from the ESL to entertain you with live eSports action!
Whether you're at the event, or watching from home therefore, you’ll be able to enjoy some of the fastest sim-racing around with amazing prizes on offer.
EGX attendees will be able to enter a Power Lap contest, with daily multiplayer finals for the five fastest players from each day. These finals will be streamed live on Twitch by ESL, the world’s largest eSports platform, with a pro commentary team calling the action.

| One of those commentators will be pro shoutcaster, Jack Peters. How did he get such an awesome job? “I got into shoutcasting due to growing up playing CounterStrike and hearing the work of guys like ReDeYe. Earlier this year I started to work on my own Twitch streams with matches of CS:GO. After a while I started to get a bit of interest from organisers like the ESL, whom I work with on the ESLUK Premiership broadcasts.” For a guy brought up on FPS games, his favourite games and eSports aren’t too much of a surprise. “My favourite game has got to be Duke Nukem 3D, It was a FPS that's stuck with me throughout the years and is just an absolute blast of a game,” says Peters. “My favourite eSport is CS: GO. I grew up playing CS: Source and devoted a lot of my time to the UK Scene. My love for the game still burns strong and I spend a lot of my time even either commentating on CS:GO or playing at LAN events.” It’s that competitive spirit which has drawn Peters to Project CARS, and he’ll get his first taste of sim-racing commentary at EGX. “Competition is a really big factor for me and Project CARS has captured that! A Devoted community and a very competitive scene that I'm glad to be involved in at this awesome event at EGX!” What’s Peters most looking forward to at EGX this year? “The roar of the crowd when someone pulls off a crazy play! That rush of adrenaline the crowd feels when their favourite team or player is winning is awesome and it really gets you hyped as a shoutcaster.” |
| Peters’ co-commentator will be Matt York, better known in the Project CARS and sim-racing community as Yorkie065, a popular YouTuber and something of an expert on all things CARS. “I've had always had motorsport in the family, whether it's watching it on TV or playing it on various consoles through the years, from the original Gran Turismo when I first got a PlayStation, through all the F1 games, up to the sims I play now,” says York. “I love the challenge of trying to learn a sim racer, crushing any bad habits I’ve learned from previous racing games and refining my driving skills. I was hooked by Project CARS and stayed with it throughout its development.” York will provide expert analysis of the on-track action at EGX, and his experience with Project CARS will be a big boost to the audience at the Expo and the fans watching at home on Twitch. “Project CARS just feels right compared to other racers. I can feel what the car is doing under me and the response through the wheel feels fantastic. It just gives me more confidence in the car, especially in the GT3 class. Project CARS changed me from an F1 fan, into a GT and also endurance racing fan. It's really opened up my mind to other motorsport events around the world and how good the racing in those cars and classes can be.” Finally, York has some top tips for budding YouTubers and commentators. “Try to capture the intensity of the races. I always try to upload something that is either entertaining or informative to watch. Then I add the commentary to highlight various aspects of the video, give advice and create some kind of emotion in the viewer, especially tension as battles build up. “Read the comments too. I love reading the feedback that people give. Their experiences of the video, of similar racing situations and what happened to them, and even any criticism. It’s very important to interact with your subscribers as lot of YouTubers just ignore the comments and questions that go up on their videos. People are always thankful when you reply or help them out and it's great to see them enjoy the game or video even more.” |
