Project CARS VR Image 1Already the most technically-advanced racing game on the planet supporting 12K, second screen apps, and 40+ wheels and peripherals, the world of virtual reality as made possible via the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive now offers players the most immersive and natural perspective of the action ever.

“Ever since the announcement of the Oculus Rift and the team getting their hands on one of the early devkits we immediately knew the racing genre was going to be a perfect fit for virtual reality. With players already having an understanding of what it feels like to sit in the driving seat of a car, wheel peripherals already existing that provide a natural driving input, and the nature of racing being one of (hopefully!) forward motion, the ability to now wear a virtual helmet and experience the action through the driver’s eyes is the final piece of the puzzle allowing you to get as close as possible to the real thing.”
– Stephen Viljoen, Game Director

Project CARS on the Oculus Store comes complete with all the On Demand content added so far over the last year in addition to further VR-specific improvements coming to the Oculus version.

When Project CARS Game Of The Year Edition launches, all purchasers of the game on Oculus Store will then automatically get upgraded to this version too.

“Project CARS has always been regarded as one of the most beautiful racing games out there already but we’re always looking for new gameplay experiences too. Once you’ve peered closer at the fine detail we put into the cockpit of a supercar like the Pagani Huayra BC, hastily glanced left at a IndyCar trying to overtake, looked towards the apex whilst trying to nail a perfect lap, or even looked out of the back window whilst trying to reverse you’ll never be able to go back. Without a shadow of a doubt, virtual reality makes you a better racer and we fully expect many of our fans and Esports pros that already own sim racing setups will eagerly be adopting the Rift as the way to take their game to the next level.”
– Andy Tudor, Creative Director

• To launch Project CARS in VR mode, right click in Steam Library and select either Rift or HTC Vive VR mode
• Go to Options -> Virtual Reality and set “Recenter View at Race Start” to “Always”
• In the Pause screen, go to Virtual Reality and adjust seat position + height so that the in-game steering wheel is where you’d expect it to be in relation to your real world wheel
• For your first VR run, it’s a good idea to choose a slower car on a flat circuit (such as the Toyota GT86 at Hockenheim), using no AI to get acclimated to the VR experience
